For the last 30 years, the estate was built up slowly by purchasing the best plots of vines by Mr Schwach. Today the owners of the 28 ha property are Mr & Mrs Schwebel also producing foie gras. They have a very quality oriented approach on winegrowing: low yield per hectare, hand harvest only, use of natural yeast, age on lies after slow fermentation. This philosophy gives fine wines, delivering true minerality and fruitiness, dedicated to gastronomy.
The Kaefferkopf is a unique soil, famous for centuries in Alsace. It is southeast oriented on sloppy soils below the Vosges foothills, ranging from 240 to 320m. Its structure is siliceous, granited with calcium clay layers, ideal to grow Gewurztraminer. It gives complex and strong wines.
Floral and fruity nose lightly spicy, smooth, well-balanced and concentrated. Sweet finish. It fits well spicy food, Asian food, strong cheese (Munster, Roquefort).
